BSc Medical Imaging Technology

Duration: 3 Years + 6 Month Internship

Medical Imaging technology is related to the study of various techniques of capturing images (X-rays, ultrasounds and other medical equipment) of human body parts for medical as well as research purposes. This discipline plays a huge role in diagnosing different types of diseases and conditions. Interior organs/parts/tissues of human body are not visible to the naked eye. Doctors need medical imaging technology in order to obtain the visual representations of these organs, tissues and parts.

Opportunities:

The graduates have great prospects to work in various health care, both public and private sectors as- Imaging Technologists, Application / Technical Specialist for imaging modalities in healthcare companies, and as teaching faculties in academic institutes.

Admission criteria:

Two year Pre University examination/10+2 or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principal subjects of study.

OR

The vocational higher secondary education courses conducted by Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Govt. of Kerala with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in addition to vocational subjects conducted is considered equivalent to plus TWO examinations of GOK- Pre University Course.

OR

Lateral entry to second year for allied health science courses for candidates who have passed diploma program from the Govt. Boards and recognized by RGUHS.

The selection of students to will be based on merit provided that:

In case of admission on the basis of qualifying examination, a candidate for admission must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained not less than 45% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination.

In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Category I, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together in qualifying examination is not less than 40%.

Minimum Age:

A candidate seeking admission to Bachelor of Physiotherapy course should have completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission.
