Lamp lighting ceremony
LAMP LIGHTING
AND OATH TAKING CEREMONY 2026
Heritage College of Nursing, Mysore celebrated a
significant milestone with the Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony for its 6th
batch of B.Sc Nursing students on 11th of June 2026. The event was
held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Pushpashrama, Naidu Nagar, Mysore.
The Chief Guest for the day was Dr. L N Karunakara,
MBBS, D-Ortho, Chief Medical Officer, Karnataka Police Academy & Consultant
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Prajwal Health Care & KNMH Hospital, Mysore.
The program was presided over by Sri. A B Ibrahim,
I.A.S. (Retd.), Chairman, HCGOI. Other distinguished guests for the day were Mrs.
Souda Ibrahim, Trustee, HCGOI, Mrs.
Firdose Fathima, Principal, Heritage City College of Nursing, Dr. Bhagya H M, Principal, Heritage City
Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Uma H M, Principal, Heritage City
College of Physiotherapy and Dr. Abrar
Ahamed, Director Operations, HCGOI
The program commenced with a warm welcome to
dignitaries, guests, students and parents, followed by a briefing on the
significance of the ceremony by Prof. Firdose Fathima, Principal, Heritage City
College of Nursing. The event was inaugurated by watering of a sapling followed
by honouring of the Chief Guest.
The traditional lighting of the Florence Nightingale
lamp was performed by Mrs. Bindu Aneesh, Assistant Professor, Heritage City
College of Nursing and Mr. Maxim Vas, Director, Palliative & Hospice Care,
Mysore. The lamp lighting symbolized the transfer of knowledge and compassion
to novice nurses. This was followed by the Nightingale Pledge, administered by
Mrs. Shantala K B, Associate Professor, Heritage City College of Nursing.
After the oath-taking, prizes were distributed to
winners of various competitions held during the Nurses Day celebrations on 12th
May 2026.
Dr. L N Karunakara delivered the keynote address,
sharing valuable insights on the nursing profession and inspiring students with
his professional experiences.
Sri. A B Ibrahim, I.A.S. (Retd.) delivered the
presidential address and urged students to uphold the ethics and dignity of the
profession.
The formal ceremony concluded by honouring of the
chief guest, vote of thanks and the National Anthem, marking a memorable
beginning for students as they embark on their nursing careers.
This was followed by cultural programs presented by
the nursing students, which concluded the Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking
Ceremony 2026 for the 6th Batch of BSc Nursing.
